Aysel Akhundova is an emerging producer/director and an independent researcher from Baku, Azerbaijan. She has been one of the four co-founders of the Femiskop Collective, which published articles, podcasts and visual materials through feminist optics in Azerbaijani language. She is also a part of the Salt Traces artistic collective, which explores the relations between the Caspian Sea, food, spaces and people of its shore. She also produces her first feature-length film Strange Sea with director Lala Aliyeva about the Caspian. Aysel studied film at FAMU and Goldsmiths University. She is interested in alternative ways of knowledge production, decoloniality and planetary politics.
